IDEI in short
Founded in 1990 by Jean-Jacques LAFFONT, IDEI (Institute of Industrial Economics) is a partnership-based research centre located in the University of Toulouse 1 Capitole.
The institute has a dual purpose:
- To enable the group of economists at the University of Toulouse to compete on an international level,
- To offer businesses and administrations an interface between their activities and economic research.
By addressing the theoretical and practical economic issues faced by private and publicly owned companies, IDEI allows decision makers to benefit from the most leading edge tools in the field of economic research.
IDEI activities
The institute focuses on four different activities:
Fundamental Research
Developing formal models to analyse, understand and interpret industrial structures.
Applied Research
Developing methodologies specifically to inform decision making.
Conferences and seminars
IDEI provides an international forum for theorists and practitioners to debate economic issues.
Training
The institute organises custom-built sessions for businesses covering the disciplines needed to control economic and financial mechanisms.
