Biography

David Martimort holds a position as a Professor of Economics at the Toulouse School of Economics. Previously, he has been Directeur d’Etudes at Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (2006-2022), Professor at Paris School of Economics (2010-2022), Professor of Economics at the Toulouse School of Economics (2000-2006), Professor of Economics at the University of Pau and the Pays de l’Adour (1998-2000) and researcher at INRAE. He got his PHD from Toulouse University (1992). He specializes in Incentives Theory and its applications. He coauthored with Jean-Jacques Laffont a reference textbook on the topic (“The Theory of Incentives,” 2002, Princeton University Press). His research spans several areas including Contract Theory, Industrial Organization, Regulation, Development Economics, Political Economy, Public Economics and Environmental and Resource Economics, with a special emphasis on issues related to regulatory and public governance. He has published in Econometrica, American Economic Review, The Review of Economic Studies, Journal of Economic Theory, Journal of European Economic Association, The RAND Journal of Economics, Theoretical Economics and the Journal of Public Economics among others. He has been Fellow of the Econometric Society and a Fellow of the European Economic Association since 2005. David Martimort has also served on the editorial boards of several journals including The Review of Economic Studies, Journal of Economic Theory, Econometrica, Theoretical Economics and he has been one of the editors of The RAND Journal of Economics (2008-2022). David Martimort has received the 2016 Prize of the Revue Economique, the 2004 Prize for the Best French Young Economist and the 1998 NYSE Award for the best paper in Market Finance. He has delivered several invited lectures at international conferences and workshops.
